Team Inspector Nalinikanta 2 recently got together to launch the trailer of the new KLIKK series, starring Rajatava Dutta, Amrita Chattopadhyay, Suprobhat Das, Chandak Chowdhury, Raja Chatterjee and Manas Mukherjee at Refinery 091. A special Nalinikanta Mishti was also launched on the occasion.

Directed by Soumik Chatterjee, the story starts on the outskirts of Calcutta where two skeletons are found in a farmhouse. The owner of the farmhouse is Supriya Mukherjee, a business tycoon of the hills, a social worker, and a future member of the legislative assembly in the upcoming election. Nalinikanta is required to ask Supriya Mukherjee some questions about his enquiry.

Parama gives him company. Shakya, who was a junior of Nalini at the time of the Gorkhaland movement, is now a sub-inspector of the nearby police station. He comes to receive Nalinikanta. The day Nalini reaches the hills Supriya Mukherjee is murdered mysteriously in the same evening, with a sharp weapon in his own house. As the narrative progresses, revelations start tumbling out like the proverbial skeletons in the cupboard.

Inspector Nalikanta 2 trailer launch was celebrated with a lot of pomp and grandeur. We are all very excited about the series and the feedback has been amazing. Our belief is that, whatever affection and adulation we have received in the first season with Inspector Nalinikanta 1, expectations from season two will garner more traction and affection. This is a much wider action-packed canvas, amidst beautiful outdoor locations in Dooars and not confined to our city limits only. From the narrative perspective too, this is a more intriguing storyline with the depth of detection. More characters with grey shades have been introduced, with the twists of the tale at the tail end being truly complex. Nalinikanta is a foodie with a voracious appetite. We have food associations too in the series,” said Rajatava Dutta.

“People have loved the franchise. The trailer of Inspector Nalinikanta 2 found a very high positive response. The right mix of food and thrill seems to have marinated well it seems! Now in the second season, the scale is bigger, as we have shot the series entirely outdoors! The beautiful locations of North Bengal have blended really well into the narrative! If the trailer response is a yardstick, then we have a great series coming up this month end,” said Amrita Chattopadhyay.

Nalinikanta is a government detective in the police department. He is a typical Bengali, who initially appears to be an unassuming simpleton. However, his true identity lies in his sharp incisive detection. Nalinikanta loves to eat, and as the case becomes more complex, his appetite increases with equal fervour. He is often chastised by his wife for this. The quintessential Bengali husband, he is afraid and deeply in love with his wife in equal measure. While his job is to save society from various criminals, his wife tries to save him from eating junk food, although she can’t always succeed. He can’t function without eating junk food in the middle of his work. Nalinikanta is both serious and weirdly humorous.

“The trailer of Inspector Nalinikanto 2 has had a fantastic response so far. This is one character I have personally loved creating over a period of time. Rajatava Dutta is such a remarkable actor, who has spent considerable effort in bringing unique traits to his character curve, beyond the distinctive quirkiness, which I had wanted. The responses show that he has clearly taken it a notch above what the audiences loved in season one. His character lives to eat, and more often than not, his presence is peppered with food for thought anecdotes.

“I am very happy with all my actors and this time around we have introduced quite a few of them. Amrita had worked with me once before and this time her range has been spectacular. Suprabhat Das has had prior experience in detective series but here, the experienced actor has performed brilliantly in a grey shade character this time. Chandak Chowdhury is always the dependable artiste as Mushtak, the trusty lieutenant of our sleuth. Nalinikanta has another comrade this time in the hills and Manas Mukherjee has done a stellar job as Shakya, his sparring aide,” said director Soumik Chatterjee.

“The strong audience demand has reaffirmed our resolve to carry on the franchise to a simultaneous season. So much so, that we are already receiving requests for a Season 3. Inspector Nalinikanta 2 clearly seems to usher in testimonials of rather acceptable popularity of a legacy that is here to stay. Soumik Chatterjee has been a part of the growth journey of KLIKK, with his third series now. Rajatava Dutta is such a brilliant actor, who paints an enormous range of emotions and craft on the canvas.

“Our efforts have always been to ensure newer perspectives to the production scale and content range. We have also introduced several new talented artistes to the industry who have gone on to shine brightly in the performance firmament. This series too will witness the same. We were reasonably certain that season two will create new frontiers of possibilities and are quite happy now to witness that everyone’s effort has come up trumps,” said Niraj Tantiya, director, KLIKK.

“The panoramic locations of the Dooars have been painted in myriad hues of intrigue and mystery. Our cinematographer Anir’s hard work has lit up every frame spectacularly. Pranjal Das has scored the right elements of mystique and suspense build-up with his music direction. We are excitedly looking forward to the streaming, this month-end,” signed off director Soumik Chatterjee.
