Paayel Sarkar, Rupsha Mukhopadhyay, and Alivia Sarkar star in the new film Abar Awronne Din Ratri, directed by Suman Maitra. Abar Awronne Din Ratri is a coming-of-age story of four women travel bloggers. The film’s trailer was recently launched at Soul — The Sky Lounge. “The trailer of Abar Awronne Din Ratri offers a glimpse into the emotional odyssey of four characters and the enchanting views of Dooars, where their journey unfolds,” said director Suman Maitra.

Abar Awronne Din Ratri is all about travel, friendship, fun, and emotions. We shot in the lovely locales of Dooars during winter. My character’s name is Nandini and she loves to celebrate life. However, at the same time, her existence is stuck in a complication of life. I loved working with the team starting with our director Suman Maitra. Earlier we did Shimanto, a film of a very different genre. Abar Awronne Din Ratri is the exact opposite of Shimanto. So it shows his versatility as a maker. It’s always fun to work with him and also the entire unit,” said Paayel.

In the film, Nandini leads the team as they capture the best visuals, travelling from one place to another while shooting the vlog deep in the forest. The silence of the jungle and candid moments of life get framed where eternity resonates. Personal thoughts and dimensions of life come together at crossroads as the film provides snapshots of tribal dance, mind games, song and dance and vibrant colourful shades of life. Life brings Nandini to a circle as she stands before her past.

“Satyajit Ray’s film Aronner Din Ratri, which was based on Sunil Gangopadhyay’s novel, has inspired me. I tried to reinterpret a story that is solely mine and in no way did I want to disrespect the legend and the author of the original and with no intention to hurt the sentiments and emotions of Bengali people and respected families related to the film. Abar Awronne Din Ratri (Forest Revisited) has no connection with the original. It is a coming-of-age story of women travel vloggers. My film is a travelogue. The film has the elements of a road journey, the visuals of a forest, the silence of the hills, and various shades of the characters. Abar Awronne Din Ratri is about the girls who want to explore, travel, and look at the world with a different outlook and how adventure, thrill, fun, music, and songs have rejuvenated their personal and work lives,” said Suman. The film releases on April 5.
