Team Bohurupi recently got together at Soul — The Sky Lounge to reveal the first motion poster and looks of the star-studded cast of the film, comprising Abir Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Koushani Mukherjee. Directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, Bohurupi is an action-chase drama, which promises to take the audience on a thrilling ride, combining high-octane action sequences with deep emotional narratives.

While Abir plays an ethical cop who would never forfeit duty, Shiboprosad is seen as his arch nemesis, depicted as a common man. Ritabhari looks angelic in the first look of her character opposite Abir. Koushani is seen in two strikingly different avatars where one is of a contemporary woman and the second one of a simple village girl.

Abir, who plays the role of Sumanta Ghoshal, looked handsome in a mint green shirt paired with denim. He said: “This is my third film with Windows and the interesting thing is that this will be the first time for me in the uniform of a police officer in a Bengali film. My character is a very responsible and dutiful cop. I don’t want to reveal much about the character. All I want is for the story to reach the audience the way we have planned. We have seen time and again that the audience loves watching films during Puja. Last year, my Puja release film, Raktabeej was also under the Windows banner. I must say that Bohurupi is very different compared to other films that have been released on the occasion of Puja earlier.”

While sharing some fun moments with co-star and friend Shiboprosad, Abir told t2, “I have grown up watching Shibuda’s acting on television. Having worked with him as a director and a co-star, the bond has definitely strengthened. We had been planning to come together on screen for a very long time and now that it has happened, fingers crossed! When Windows gives you a role, you have a certain level of expectations to meet while having an amazing experience.”

The first look of Ritabhari’s character Pori shows her with minimal make-up and holding a peacock feather. Dressed in a wine red and black dress, the actress looked gorgeous at Soul — The Sky Lounge. She said: “Windows is my family. My journey with Windows Production started with Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti. Three films later I can say that Windows has given me precious people like Aritro, Shibuda, Nanditadi (Roy) and many more. I am really excited about Bohurupi especially because it is under Nanitadi and Shibuda’s directorial prowess. Another thing that I would often hear is that I would not get a role because of my weight which I had gained for a previous film. Windows trusting me with such a beautiful character also proves that wrong.”

The actress told t2: “I have always chosen challenging roles and played characters which are not very close to who Ritabhari actually is. Pori is an interesting character and was a very challenging role. Plus, there is a huge sentiment of love attached to Pori’s essence as well. The film is packed with action, dhamaka, romance, great plot and everything else that you would want to watch on Puja and beyond. It is the kind of film that you want to go back and watch once with your friends, then family and so on.”

Koushani Mukherjee looked stunning in a beige lehenga with silver embroidery and feather details. Jhimli appears in two distinct avatars that capture the essence of her character’s complexity.

In one look she is adorned with palash flowers, exuding a timeless charm rooted in cultural richness. Contrasting this is her second look, where she appears bold and enigmatic with kohl-rimmed eyes and free-flowing hair, hinting at a deeper narrative and adding layers of intrigue to her persona. With these contrasting yet complementary visuals, the motion poster not only teases Jhimli’s duality but also sets the stage for an enthralling cinematic journey filled with action, drama, and suspense.

The actress spoke to t2 about her first project with Windows and said: “I am hyper-excited! Since we are taking baby steps towards making our film reach everyone, today’s poster launch was a part of that. I am very grateful towards the entire Windows team, especially to my mentors Shibuda and Nanditadi for their guidance and faith. On day one of the shoot schedule when the look set was ongoing, I recall being so nervous and it was Nanditadi who was a motherly figure to me. I remember hearing rumours that I was not being offered roles but that is not true. I wanted to take up a challenging role and was waiting for the right script. When Windows approached me, I knew I had found it!”

Talking about her unique look in the film, she said: “A lot of people are saying that my look is de-glamourised but that is the beauty of my character, Jhimli. Bold eyes, vibrant colours and simple saris. Jhimli’s hair and look are adorned with beautiful palash flowers.”

Shiboprosad was dressed smartly in a mustard tee and grey blazer with vintage vibes. The hair pulled back with a hairband added to the actor-director’s refreshing look. He said: “This year is very special to me… it marks my 50th birthday and my 30th year in this industry. On this occasion, Nanditadi gifted me with two acting opportunities in Bohurupi and Amaar Boss.”

The clean-shaven look of Shiboprosad Mukherjee in Bohurupi marks a departure from his previous roles, promising audiences a fresh and dynamic portrayal. The film’s first-look motion poster offers a glimpse of Bikram’s character, highlighting the intensity and versatility Mukherjee brings to the screen.

“I have put in my utmost effort to embody Bikram’s grand aspirations and dreams. The look holds a special place in my heart; my make-up artist, Papiya, and I engaged in extensive discussions to craft it. We aimed for a design that embraced simplicity, avoiding prosthetics, and instead relied on highlighting the physical features I naturally possess. I wanted the look to reflect authenticity and ease, aligning with the character’s essence while remaining true to my own attributes,” said Shiboprosad.

Nandita Roy said: “Amar Boss and Bohurupi are going to be two of the finest films the audience has ever witnessed. I am sure everyone will love these films a lot. We have worked very hard for Bohurupi.”

Anupam Roy, who was present at the poster launch, said: “I have created one song for Bohurupi. They had given me a scenario and I made a song accordingly. It is a very different song as compared to what the audience has heard from me before.”
