Set in the year 2070, Ganapath focuses on a world ruled by a totalitarian society where the common people are subjected to atrocities by a small but powerful ruling class. It is from here that Guddu (played by Tiger Shroff) metamorphoses into Ganapath, the saviour.
Initially, Ganapath was planned to be a two-part film, with the first film titled ‘Ganapath: Part 1’. However, it is now a single film and has been rechristened Ganapath: A Hero is Born, slated to release on the big screen on October 20.
(l-r) Amitabh Bachchan's look in the film has piqued curiosity, Kriti Sanon does action for the first time in her career
The film marks Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon coming together nine years after Heropanti, which marked the debut of both actors.
Amitabh Bachchan plays a pivotal role in Ganapath. The screen legend’s look in the film has aroused an immense amount of curiosity. It features a part of his turban functioning as an eye patch and covering one eye, round-rimmed glasses and a rustic look and feel. Reportedly, the look is inspired by a viral photograph of an Afghan refugee by photographer Steve McCurry. The photo was very popular in on social media a few years ago because the refugee resembled Bachchan.
Kriti Sanon, fresh from winning her maiden National Award, does action for the first time in her career. The actress trained in various forms of action — kickboxing dirt bike riding, martial arts and working with nunchucks. Her training session with nunchucks for the character of Jassi went on for nine months. “The way Jassi’s character is introduced... it’s so powerful sexy, and raw,” says Kriti.
