The final trailer for Fly Me to the Moon, starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, has been dropped by Apple Original Films.
Set in the 1960s, the movie features Johansson as an executive who is hired by NASA for an image makeover after the agency comes under fire from the US government and the public for delay in its moon mission. Tatum serves as the meticulous launch director for the mission.
“The final trailer has landed. #FlyMeToTheMoon starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum – exclusively in theaters July 12,” Apple Original Films recently wrote on X alongside the one-minute-27-second trailer.
The first US moon landing in 1969 remains a topic of controversy even 55 years after the historic feat. Many conspiracy theorists claim the event was staged by filmmaker Stanley Kubrick at the behest of NASA. This notion serves as the backdrop for Fly Me to the Moon, which explores a fictional backup plan to fake the moon landing if the actual mission failed.
Fly Me to the Moon is directed by Greg Berlanti, known for his extensive work on CW superhero shows in the Arrowverse. He has also directed films such as Love, Simon (2018) and Life As We Know It (2010).
In addition to Johansson and Tatum, the cast includes Nick Dillenburg, Anna Garcia, Jim Rash, Noah Robbins, Colin Woodell, Christian Zuber, Donald Elise Watkins, Ray Romano and Woody Harrelson.
Produced by Apple Original Films and distributed by Columbia Pictures, Fly Me to the Moon will premiere exclusively in theatres on July 12.
