Federer: Twelve Final Days, a documentary tracing tennis maestro Roger Federer’s preparation for his final match for which he teamed up with his arch-enemy and friend Rafael Nadal, will be premiering on Prime Video on June 20.

Prime Video dropped a trailer of the documentary on Tuesday, giving a glimpse of Federar’s preparation and moments from the doubles match played during The Hopman Cup in 2022. The one-minute-five-second-long trailer begins with the tennis icon announcing his retirement. “To my tennis family and beyond, today I want to share some news with all of you,” says Federer as the camera pans to his wife Mirka.

As glimpses of his final match are played out on the screen, a voiceover says, “On a day like this you go back and think how it started.”

Arguably the greatest tennis player to wield the racket, Federer has won 20 Grand Slams throughout his illustrious career and is recognised as the most aesthetic athlete ever to grace the game. He has won eight Wimbledon Championships, five US Open titles, six Australian Open victories and a French Open triumph.

During the last 12 days of his career, Federer granted exclusive access to a camera crew, capturing intimate moments and behind-the-scenes footage. The result is a compelling documentary directed by Academy Award winner Asif Kapadia and co-directed by Joe Sabia, known for his work on documentaries featuring soccer luminaries Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Maradona.

The documentary promises to preserve Federer’s legacy and offers a deep dive into his final days in the sport.
