RAIN-SOAKED MEMORIES

The scene in the film comes after Banerjee family celebrates the five days of Durga Puja festival. In the scene we can see all the characters at a ghat immersing goddess Durga on Dashami

We shot the scene in Howrah Phool Ghat. It was raining heavily on that day. Everyone asked me to not shoot on the very day. But, unfortunately I had no option. Including the cast and crew, we were almost 400-450 people. It was a huge unit. It was extremely difficult for the artistes to shoot the scene. The actors were ready with costume and make-up. We had to make sure that they weren’t getting wet in the rain. Everyone was waiting until the rain stopped. We used to shoot a scene, take shelter and wait for the moment when it stopped raining and again go and shoot.

The final outcome is beautiful. It is visible in the film or one can see the scene in the title track of the film. Maa Durga is an emotion to us. It was an amazing experience shooting the scene.

KAUSHIK GANGULY AND KHARAJ MUKHERJEE SHARE SCREEN SPACE

There is a scene from the film which has Kaushik Ganguly and Kharaj Mukherjee. In the scene both their characters speak for the first time with each other. This is a very important scene in the film. Both of them are very strong actors.

Before the take we discussed the scene for two hours. We prepared a whole day to design the scene. Finally when we were about to shoot the scene, Kharajda and I had different interpretations. When we were shooting the scene and I was watching it in the monitor, it was a wonderful experience to see them both act together. It was a treat to watch the screenplay come into visuals with these two great actors!

VIRAL SCENE

There is a scene in the film with Ahan and Mom aka Devtanu and Sweta. There is a conversation from the film which is going viral on social media. Mom says, “I am not saying that I don’t love you. To me, staying well is more important that getting loved.” Ahan says, “Subho Bijoya (Stay well).” We shot the scene in a street of north Kolkata. There were so many people standing when we shot the scene. It was because we had created a pujo set in middle of the street. Since we shot it in the middle of the street, it was difficult to tackle the people, junior artistes. It would have been impossible for me to shoot the scene without my team’s hard work. It is an emotional scene which is very important in the film .

This very scene is in the trailer of the film. The scene went viral. I feel everyone could relate to it.

FOOD FUN

My most favourite scene from the film is where all the characters of Banerjee family sit and have their lunch at the dining table during one of the days of Durga Puja. We used to have a feast during our shooting days. The whole team celebrated Durga Puja even offscreen. We had tasty food like Pulao, Chicken, Luchi, Aloo Dum.

Even at times Amritadi used to cook and bring food for us from home. We shot a song at 6, Ballygunge Place. After the scene we had lunch there. From Phuckha to Roshogolla, the cast and crew made sure to not leave out anything.
