Sonakshi Sinha is a fearless cop with a thick accent on a mission to nab a serial killer, played by Vijay Varma, in the latest trailer of Zoya Akhtar’s Prime Video series Dahaad, directed by Ruchika Oberoi and Reema Kagti.

Dropped by the makers on Wednesday, the two-minute-32-second trailer starts with the abduction of a 28-year-old woman, Krishna. While investigating the case, Sonakshi’s sub-inspector Anjali Bhaati stumbles upon evidence that leads her to 27 other cases of abduction in a Rajasthan town, unraveling a pattern in all the cases.

The deaths are written off as suicides until Anjali finds a link between the victims. And in comes Vijay Varma — a married college professor who suspectedly lures young women with his charm and eventually kills them. Sonakshi and Vijay’s encounter leads to a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase.

Gulshan Devaiah is a calm and collected cop who assists the determined and gritty Anjali Bhaati in her investigation.

Dahaad premiered at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival in Germany on February 22. The eight-part crime-thriller series, which marks Sonakshi’s web series debut, will drop on Prime Video on May 12.
