This box office feat has propelled Oppenheimer to surpass the earnings of Fast X (USD 704 million) and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (USD 686 million). The film now ranks behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie (USD 1.35 billion), Greta Gerwig’s Barbie (USD 1.279 billion), and Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 (USD 845 million).

Oppenheimer now holds the position of being Christopher Nolan's fourth-highest-grossing film of all time, only behind The Dark Knight (USD 1.006 billion), The Dark Knight Rises (USD 1.08 billion) and Inception (USD 837 million).

Nolan adapted Oppenheimer from Kai Bird, Martin J. Sherwin’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus. While Cillian Murphy plays the titular role of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the ensemble cast also includes Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, and Alden Ehrenreich.
