Chiyaan Vikram’s Thangalaan has dropped on Netflix nearly four months after its theatrical release on Independence Day this year.
Also starring Malavika Mohanan and Parvathy Thiruvothu, the Pa Ranjith directorial is set in pre-independent India and revolves around the inhabitants of Karnataka's Kolar Gold Fields.
“To defeat an oppressive landlord, a tribal leader joins a British explorer in a risky search for gold in terrain protected by a feared mystical force,” reads the synopsis of the film on Netflix.
Produced by Studio Green, the film also features Daniel Caltigarone, Harikrishnan, Arjun Anbudan and Preeti Karan in key roles. The soundtrack of Thangalaan is composed by GV Prakash, with cinematography by Kishor Kumar and editing by Selva RK.
The film, with a runtime of two-hours-and-28-minutes, is available to stream on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages.
According to industry data-tracking site Sacnilk, the actioner grossed approximately Rs 68.5 crore worldwide following its release on August 15.
On the work front, Vikram has S.U. Arun Kumar’s Veera Dheera Sooran: Part 2 in the pipeline. The film is expected to hit theatres next year.
