SRK fandom in Calcutta (read ‘across the globe’) is an emotion. With Shah Rukh Khan’s latest biggie, Jawan, kickstarting at the theatres on September 7, fans from Calcutta celebrated the day with unbounded energy! Gathering outside theatres at 5am in the morning, armed with garlands and Jawan posters, donning Jawan-themed masks of SRK and different looks of him we got to see in posters and the trailer, frenzied dancing to tracks from the film to walking in rallies, starting their first-day-first show with the auspicious coconut breaking, milk-pouring and puja... Jawan Day couldn’t have started better.

It was a grand affair outside the single screens of Calcutta, with joyous sights created by Shah Rukh Khan’s fan clubs in the city. King of Bollywood, Baadshah of Bollywood, a superstar and for some people God himself — SRK has touched people’s lives from all walks of life. From toddlers to senior citizens, people of all age groups participated in the rallies and gatherings for the Jawan celebrations outside Navina, Basusree and Menoka in South Calcutta. A horse-driven chariot, colour bombs, confetti, snow spray and crackers filled the air as passersby watched the fans hooting, cheering and dancing with glee and enjoyed the celebratory spirit across the streets of Calcutta. t2 gets you glimpses...
