BTS member Jungkook has won over a large contingent of Indian K-pop fans by expressing his love for chicken makhani and naan at a recent Weverse live session.
“Someone asked if I’ve ever tried Indian food. Chicken makhani. You know naan? You dip it in the curry and eat it. I really love that. Eating it with curry. God, I want to eat it so bad. It’d be delicious. I’m hungry. I’m starving. Please don’t talk about food. I beg you,” said the K-pop star after a performance of his new single Seven at the Inkigayo Music Bank on July 31.
Although Indian fans are head-over-heels in love with Jungkook’s recent statement about desi food, this is not the first time a BTS member has shown their love for India. Way back in 2020, Jimin caused a social media uproar when he revealed that he watched the Bollywood movie 3 Idiots. After his concert in Bangkok in June, Suga aka Min Yoongi revealed his love for Bollywood. Just a few months back, Jungkook played the Oscar-winning song Naatu Naatu in his interactive live session and sang along.
In 2021, Indian BTS fans were in for a treat as the members recorded themselves enjoying paneer and naan. While J-Hope ate naan and curry, Jimin and Jungkook were confused over whether paneer is “tofu” or “cheese”. Fans were also wonderstruck with the band when the members unanimously said, “Indian BTS ARMY aap hamare dil mein rehte hain” in Hindi.
While these BTS stories about Indian food and culture delight everyone, fans are also upbeat about Jungkook’s current musical endeavors. His recent single, Seven, featuring American rapper, Latto, has already reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 100 chart. He has mentioned that he will release one more single before his fans get to experience his much-anticipated mini-album in November.
