BTS member RM on Friday dropped a new single, Come Back To Me, from his upcoming album Right Place, Wrong Person — slated to release on May 24 — alongside a music video for the track.
The new track has so far garnered over one million views on YouTube and is currently trending at No. 3 on the streamer.
Accompanied by a multi-layered narrative, the five-minute-42-second music video also features South Korean actress Kim Minha, who has recently garnered global acclaim for her performance in the Apple TV+ series Pachinko. The video is written and directed by Lee Sung Jin, known as the creator of Netflix series Beef.
The music video shows RM in different roles — a friend, a married man and someone having disagreements with his girlfriend. It opens with a close-up shot of the singer sitting in a gathering at a house party, brooding and lost within himself. It shows the K-pop icon suffering a heartbreak and experiencing a disastrous married life, presenting him as someone who is afraid of life’s possibilities as he hasn’t tasted success or felt confident at any time.
However, the storyline takes a turn when the protagonist opens a new door, indicating a new outlook towards life. "You don’t have to be anything, try not to be that something in the sea," croons the singer in the video as he embraces his own individuality.
Right Place, Wrong Person is scheduled to release on May 24. The rapper’s previous solo project, Indigo, came out in 2022.
At present, all BTS members — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — are serving in the South Korean military.
