BTS’ eldest member Jin aka Kim Seokjin returned to civilian life on June 12 after serving in the South Korean military for 18 months, the K-pop band’s official X page announced.
“I’m Home,” BTS’ X page wrote alongside a picture of the band members celebrating Jin’s return from mandatory military service. The photo features RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook posing with Jin in military camo outfit.
Jin worked as an assistant drill instructor at the Army recruit training centre during his service. After saluting at the main gate, Jin received a bouquet and was seen smiling as he reunited with five of his bandmates — J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
RM, who is currently serving in a military brass band, celebrated the occasion with a saxophone performance of the band's hit single Dynamite, from the album BE released in 2020.
The Astronaut singer is set to give hugs to fans who won a raffle at this year's BTS FESTA, the annual celebration of the band's debut anniversary, in Seoul on June 13. Later that day, Jin will hold a meet-and-greet event for fans, which will also be live-streamed on the Weverse K-pop fan community platform. Jin is also anticipated to release a solo album later this year.
Upon his discharge, the 31-year-old became the first of BTS's seven members to complete their military service after enlisting in December 2022. J-Hope is expected to be discharged in October this year.
BTS is expected to reunite in 2025 after all the members complete their military service.
