Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal has stormed into the Rs 500-crore club in India within just 17 days of its theatrical release on December 1, becoming the second-fastest Hindi movie to achieve this feat after Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.
Jawan hit the mark in 16 days.
Animal is the fourth Hindi movie in 2023 to cross the Rs 500-crore mark. Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 took 22 days to achieve the milestone, while Shah Rukh’s Pathaan joined the club in just 28 days.
According to box office-tracking website Sacnilk, Animal garnered a whopping Rs 337.58 crore nett in its first week. In the second week, the film continued its triumphant run, amassing Rs 139.26 crore nett. As the audience's interest in Animal remains unwavering, the film’s box office collections on Day 15 and Day 16 stood at Rs 8.3 crore nett and Rs 12.8 crore nett, respectively.
The Sandeep Reddy Vanga-helmed actioner continued to impress on its 17th day, adding Rs 14.08 crore nett to its ally, bringing the total to Rs 512.02 crore nett in India.
The success of Animal is not confined to the Indian market alone. On Sunday, the makers of the film proudly announced that it has crossed the Rs 800 crore mark at the global box office. The official handle of the movie shared that Animal has achieved a staggering Rs 817.36 crore in worldwide gross collections. “#Animal remains invictus at the Box Office” they wrote on X.
Apart from Ranbir, Animal boasts a star-studded cast including Rashmika Mandana, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Shakti Kapoor and Prem Chopra. The plot revolves around Ranvijay (Ranbir), the son of a wealthy businessman, who is willing to go to any lengths to earn his father’s (Anil Kapoor) love and respect.
