Ananya Panday gives off Meryl Streep vibes from the latter’s The Devil Wears Prada as she replicates a scene from the 2006 American comedy drama in a newly released promotional video for Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming web series Call Me Bae.

Announcing the start of filming for the Ananya Pandey-starrer web show, the one-minute-53-second teaser shows Ananya playing a fashion expert. The fun video also features Varun Dhawan as Prime Bae who delivers cheeky quips like “Manish Malhotra ko chachu bolne se koi fashion expert nahi banta.”

In the video, Ananya schools Varun Dhawan about the fashion industry in a scene that exactly replicates the popular The Devil Wears Prada moment in which Streep’s Miranda Priestly bombards Anne Hathaway’s Andrea with a savage monologue on fashion. Though Varun tries to cut in between with a classic Chunky Pandayesque, “She joking,” Ananya continues her monologue talking about how his cerulean blue boxers found their way into his drawers thanks to the fashion industry.

Ananya’s monologue exactly follows the one delivered by Streep, with the only difference being in the names of designers — Ananya takes the names of Indian designers like Sabyasachi and Masaba Gupta instead of Western designers like Oscar de la Renta that had been mentioned by Streep in the original movie.

Ananya’s mother, Bhavana Panday, was among the several celebrities who loved the fun promotional video. Karan Johar, who is the producer of the web series, also shared the video on his Instagram account. “FASHIONISTA ALERT!!!💜 @ananyapanday is the new ‘BAE’ in town with some fashion tips and tricks that will definitely slay. And trust me, I’ll be following closely!” he wrote.

Ananya has a lot on her plate with her upcoming coming-of-age film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, where she will be seen alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav. The 24-year-old is also geared up for the release of Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Dream Girl 2 as well as Vikramaditya Motwane's next yet-untitled project this year.
