Actor Amitabh Bachchan on Wednesday announced that he is set to star in Ribhu Dasgupta’s upcoming courtroom drama Section 84, produced by Reliance Entertainment in association with Jio Studios.

“A delight once again to be in the company of distinguished creative minds for this new venture, and the challenge it provokes, for me,” the 80-year-old wrote on microblogging website Twitter.

Following the announcement, Dasgupta, who is directing the upcoming film, said, "I feel happy, blessed, and honoured to collaborate with Sir (Bachchan) again. Looking forward to it."

Section 84 is likely to be Bachchan’s first big-screen outing in the year 2023. Earlier, his portrayal of a veteran lawyer in the 2016 Taapsee Pannu-starrer Pink had garnered rave reviews.

The shooting for Section 84 will start shortly. However, the makers are yet to announce the release date.
