Hoichoi launched the trailer of its highly anticipated murder mystery-thriller-drama Kumudini Bhavan at Soul — The Sky Lounge recently. The series stars Ushasi Ray, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Anashua Majumdar, Rishav Basu, and others, in pivotal roles. Directed by Arkadeep Mallika Nath, the gripping trailer showcases twists, drama, and humorous dialogues.

The trailer opens with an introduction to a girls’ hostel named Kumudini Bhavan, where Durba is one of the residents, and has an ongoing affair with Rwik, a boy with alleged mental health issues and the hostel owner’s grandson. However, misfortune strikes and she’s seen threatening another resident and then dies of unknown circumstances. A police officer, bored with his job, takes over the investigation and meets the new girl at the hostel, Anusree.

On her request and desire to solve cases, he takes her under his wing, and they interrogate people who live and work in the hostel. Many more theories about the murder are heard. Some consider it to be a crime of passion while others are clueless. The trailer ends with a comical interaction between Hochi and Anusree, establishing their connection while solving this case.

Director Arkadeep Mallika Nath, excited about his debut show, said, “After a lot of deliberation we settled on the name Kumudini Bhavan, a place with its own history. We set out to create a gripping thriller that would keep audiences on the edge of their seats from start to finish, with memorable characters and a distinctive story. I hope the trailer creates much anticipation for the series and the audience enjoys this weekend binge.”

Ushasi, who has worked with Hoichoi in many shows, said, “Anusree’s character is extremely relatable, dynamic and likeable. She is like that smart but annoyingly bright young adult who’s out to catch the culprit. Shooting with Ambarishda and Anashuadi was a huge privilege and I learnt a ton from them. Hochi and Anusree’s relationship is quite the fun ride within our murder mystery series, and I’ll always be grateful to the entire team for making the whole process such a pleasant experience.”

Sharing his experience of playing the role of Hochi, Ambarish Bhattacharya added, “It was an extremely interesting series to be a part of and the story has a lot of twists and turns to keep the audience hooked to their seats. The trailer hypes it up and does an amazing job of building up some anticipation for the upcoming show. I hope the audience bestows the same love upon Hochi as they have upon my previous characters.”
