Ali Fazal has joined the cast of Mani Ratnam's upcoming gangster film Thug Life, also starring Kamal Haasan, the actor confirmed by sharing a report of the US entertainment magazine Variety on his Instagram Story on Thursday.
“I am truly thrilled to be a part of Mani Sir’s vision for Thug Life. And I can only hope I bring something of significance to this canvas . It'’ also an honor to work alongside Kamal Haasan sir,” he said in a statement.
Calling the opportunity to collaborate with two stalwarts of Indian cinema as humbling, Ali expressed his gratitude to Mani Sir for entrusting him with the role. “ I am eager to bring it to life on screen,” he added.
Penned by Ratnam and Haasan, Thug Life will feature a background score composed by A.R. Rahman. Additionally, the ensemble cast features Trisha Krishnan, Dulquer Salmaan, Jayam Ravi, Silambarasan Rajendar, Joju George, Gautham Kartik and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
Apart from his collaboration with Ratnam, Ali is currently gearing up for the upcoming film Metro In Dino, helmed by Anurag Basu. The film also features Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Konkona Sen Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi.
Way back in 1987, Haasan and Ratnam had collaborated for the first time on the gangster Nayakan, which went on to become a blockbuster. Haasan received the Best Actor award at India’s National Film Awards for his performance in the movie and represented India at the 1988 Oscars.
