Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan release pushed to April 11, makers to hold paid previews on April 10 evening

The period sports drama is set to clash at the box office with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Ankush’s Mirza

Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan will now have a full-scale release on April 11, with only paid previews on the evening of April 10, the actor announced on Monday.

Fans overseas can catch the period sports drama on April 10.

“Mark your calendars! #Maidaan release across cinemas in India on 10th April, with special previews starting 6pm onwards. Full scale release to follow on the Eid holiday on 11th April. Reserve your seats now,” Ajay wrote on social media alongside a poster of the film.

Directed by Amit Sharma, Maidaan chronicles the golden era of Indian football during the 1950s and 60s. Ajay Devgn plays the role of coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who guided the Indian team to several victories on the football field. The film also features Priyamani, Gajraj Rao and Rudranil Ghosh in significant roles.

Produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta and Akash Chawla, Maidaan also features Madhur Mittal, Chaitanya Sharma, Tejas Ravishankar, Davinder Gill, Amartya Ray, Sushant Waydande, Manandeep Singh, Vishnu G Varrier, Raphael Jose, Jayanth V, Sai Kishore, Amandeep Thakur, Tanmay Bhattacharjee, Arko Das, Prajwal Maski, Rishab Joshi and Aaman Munshi as the players of the Indian football team.

On Tuesday, the makers released the full soundtrack of the film, composed by A.R. Rahman. The album features five songs sung by Javed Ali, Richa Sharma, Hiral Viradia, Nakul Abhyankar, Vaishali Samant, MC Heam and Rahman himself.
