After a successful run in theatres, Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh’s horror comedy Munjya will make its world television premiere on Star Gold on August 24 at 8pm, the TV channel announced on Thursday.
“Abb sabko dikhega MUNJYA. Dekhiye theatres se seedha TV par pehli baar in the Worldwide TV First Premiere of Munjya, this Saturday, 8 pm only on Star Gold,” Star Gold wrote alongside an announcement teaser on Instagram.
Munjya marks the fourth instalment in the horror comedy series by Maddock Films after Stree (2018), Roohi (2021) and Bhediya (2022). The film revolves around a young man named Bittu (Abhay) who encounters the vengeful spirit of Munjya, a child who died tragically after attempting a forbidden love ritual.
Touted as “a perfect blend of comedy and horror for Gen Z audiences”, the Aditya Sarpotdar directorial also stars Mona Singh and S. Sathyaraj.
The screenplay of Munjya was developed by Yogesh Chandekar and Niren Bhatt, while Sachin Sanghvi and Jigar Saraiya composed the music for the film.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, Munjya hit theatres on June 7. The film grossed Rs 127.95 crore in India and Rs 4.18 crore internationally during its theatrical run, making for a total worldwide gross of Rs 132.13 crore.
This year, Abhay was also seen in Ae Watan Mere Watan alongside Sara Ali Khan. Apart from recently starring in Vedaa with John Abraham, Sharvari has also started filming for Alpha, a part of the YRF Spy Universe created by Aditya Chopra. She is teaming up with Alia Bhatt for the Shiv Rawail-directed film.
