Horror-comedy film Munjya featuring Abhay Verma and Sharvari Wagh passed the crucial Monday test at the domestic box office, earning Rs 4.11 crore on its Day 4 in theatres and taking its total collection to Rs. 24.15 crore nett, according to the makers.
“#Munjya continues to win hearts and the box office with its unstoppable hit streak through Monday! Thanks for all the love and support! #Munjya, a must-watch entertainer for families and kids, is in cinemas now,” Maddock Films, the production house behind the film, posted on social media.
Helmed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Munjya kicked off its box office journey by minting Rs 4.21 crore nett on Friday. It experienced a surge in collections on Saturday, bringing in Rs 7.40 crore nett. The upward trend continued on Sunday, with the film's earnings increasing by Rs 8.43 crore nett.
On Monday, Munjya registered earnings almost at par with the opening day, raking in Rs 4.11 crore nett. It has even outperformed Mr. and Mrs. Mahi in box office collections. The Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-starrer film had garnered Rs 19 crore nett in the first four days of theatrical run.
The Sharan Sharma-helmed sports drama has minted Rs 30.8 crore nett domestically in 11 days.
Munjya is the latest addition to Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe, which includes Stree (2018), Roohi (2021), and Bhediya (2022). Set in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, the film is based on the folklore surrounding ghosts of young Brahmin boys who die before the tenth day of their mundan ceremony.
