A.R. Rahman is set to enthrall Australia with a series of live performances this October for the first time in seven years, the Oscar-winning composer announced on social media on Monday.
The concerts will take place at Melbourne’s iconic Rod Laver Arena on October 17, followed by a performance at the ICC Theatre in Sydney on October 19.
“Australia, I am pleased to announce that I am heading your way for two very special shows in Melbourne and Sydney this October,” the Chennai-based composer wrote on X.
Fans eager to secure their spots can take advantage of pre-sale tickets, which will be available starting August 21 at 10am local time. General public sales will commence on August 23 at 11am local time.
“From Roja to Rockstar, to Ponniyin Selvan and beyond… The past 30 years have been an incredible musical adventure. I am profoundly grateful for the love and support of my fans, music enthusiasts, friends, and well-wishers that continue to inspire and drive me. Join me this October, where I’ll be accompanied by an extraordinarily talented ensemble of singers and musicians,” Rahman said in a statement, reflecting on his musical journey of more than three decades.
Rahman has sold over 150 million copies of his work. His extensive discography spans more than 100 film soundtracks and albums in multiple languages. The Grammy Award-winning composer recently won the National Film Award for best background score for his work in Ponniyin Selvan — Part 1.
The composer was felicitated with the Excellence in Cinema award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024 last week.
