These five films have been directed by Raj Chakrabarty, Srijit Mukherji, Kamaleshwar Mukherjee, and Sayantan Ghoshal.

Karnasubarner Guptodhon, Dhrubo Banerjee’s adventure thriller which is running at cinemas, took the trio of Sonada, Abir and Jhinuk to Rohitashwogarh in Purulia. If you’ve loved the trio’s quest to find the lost treasures of King Shashanka, then here are five adventure films in Bengali that you can stream at home which will take you on a tour of a place with a good amount of thrill.

Adventures of Jojo (2018)

Directed by Raj Chakraborty, Adventures of Jojo is a children’s adventure film based on the novel Tongling, written by Leela Majumdar. The film revolves around Jojo (Joshojit Banerjee), a 12-year-old boy from Kolkata who yearns to explore the jungle. He is sent to his uncle’s house in Baropahari, Arunachal Pradesh, following a family emergency. There, Jojo befriends Shibu (Shamiul Alam), the son of a local mahout, who grew up in the midst of nature and has a special bond with animals. As a gang of poachers led by Munia Hazari (Rudraneel Ghosh) plot to kill Chenghiz, a tiger, Jojo and Shibu decide to take matters into their own hands and stop them.

Chander Pahar (2013)

Directed by Kamaleshwar Mukherjee, Chander Pahar is an action-adventure film based on a novel of the same name, written by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay. Extensively shot in South Africa, Chander Pahar tells the story of a young man’s adventures in Africa from 1909 to 1910. An adventurer at heart, Shankar (played by Dev) wants to follow in the footsteps of explorers like David Livingstone, whose tales he has read about. He lands a job with Ugandan Railways by sheer luck and grabs the opportunity to visit Africa. During his stay in the wilderness, Shankar rescues a Portuguese explorer, Diego Alvarez (Gerard Rudolf), who is on a quest to find the diamond mines in Richtersveld. Shankar gives up his job and joins Alvarez in his mission.

Mishawr Rawhoshyo (2012)

With private investigator Kakababu at the centre, Mishawr Rawhoshyo is an adventure thriller based on the eponymous novel by Sunil Gangopadhyay. A stark desert topography characterises the film as director Srijit Mukherji takes us to Egypt where Prosenjit’s Kakababu, with some help from his nephew Santu (Aryann Bhowmik), is out to decipher the meaning of some hieroglyphic symbols as part of a task assigned to him by an Egyptian businessman, Al Mamun (Rajit Kapur).

While Mamun thinks these symbols will provide clues to hidden treasures, Kakababu feels they hold much greater significance. What follows is a tour around the famed pyramids and long drives across the golden sands even as Kakababu confronts Hani Al Qadi (Indraneil Sengupta), a revolutionary who’s fighting to overthrow the dictatorship in Egypt.

Alinagarer Golokdhadha (2018)

Alinagarer Golokdhadha is an adventure thriller film directed by Sayantan Ghoshal, starring Anirban Bhattacharya and Parno Mittra. Soham (Anirban) is a student of history who wants to research Kolkata’s past but he does not have the money for it. Brishti (Parno), his love interest, introduces Soham to her father Ashutosh Singha (Koushik Sen), a renowned historian, for a scholarship. Ashutosh has been receiving several death threats in the form of chits. Each of these chits describes the manner in which the conspirators against Bengal’s last Nawab Siraj-ud-daula had died. Soham gets to work to solve these mysterious threats, which leads him to a bigger secret involving his own family. The film delves into the history of Kolkata and explores the city in a new light.

Jawker Dhan (2017)

Jawker Dhan is an adaptation of a story of the same name by Hemendra Kumar Roy. This action adventure directed by Sayantan Ghosal features the famous Bimal-Kumar duo created by Hemendra Kumar Roy. Kumar (Rahul Banerjee) stumbles upon a human skull in the attic of his ancestral house, with a puzzle engraved on it. He seeks the help of Bimal Sen (Parambrata Chattopadhyay), a professor of anthropometry, to solve the puzzle. They realise it is a clue pointing towards an ancient Tibetan treasure, hidden somewhere in north Bengal. As Bimal and Kumar set out on an adventure to retrieve the lost treasure, they are followed by a ruthless gangster, Karali (Sabyasachi Chakrabarty).
