Lakkhichhara, the iconic rock band based in Kolkata, recently unveiled their sixth album Ek Doshok Por, as the title says, after a decade’s gap. Released by Cozmik Harmony, the launch of this album was held on June 17 at Chapter 2 on Southern Avenue. The band launched the album and they were joined by their friends, a number of stalwarts of the Bengali music industry like Rupankar Bagchi, Anupam Roy, Debojyoti Mishra and many more. Along with the launch of the album, the band also premiered the official music video of the song Ghete Jachche Shob, one of the tracks of the album.
Consisting of four songs, the album promises its fans the authentic, signature style that the band possesses, along with a sound of today. The album is being released by the band to meet the demands of their ardent fans as they have been clamouring for years for a new album from this legendary rock band. The album consists of songs which deal with an exploration of the current world and the mindset that the band finds themselves in, as Anirban Mazumdar, the lyricist of the band, said.
“Today, the fact that Lakkhichhara is releasing an album is amazing. Nowadays, most of the time, only singles are released by musicians. The thing that is most inspiring is that they are releasing an ‘album’, which makes us very happy. And I have had a long-standing relationship with Lakkhichhara. And I have been friends with everyone in the band for a very long time. I wish them all the success for this new album.” said Rupankar Bagchi, who was present for the launch.
“When we released our last album back in 2012, our thought process and the place we were in our lives were definitely different. Since then, a lot of time has passed of course and so our mindset has changed. But somewhere we are still quite similar to what we were back then. But yes, there is a new flavour in our music now. Also, the current lineup that our band has right now, it has been the same for about 10 years. So we also wanted to release an album with this lineup. So the album is a fusion of all our personalities, the personalities of all seven of us. And that comes across in every song on the album.” said Gaurab Chatterjee, better known as Gaboo among fans and friends.
