Singer-composer Clinton Cerejo and singer-songwriter Bianca Gomes, comprising Shor Police, are making the right noise. The duo, who has their hands full with multiple Bollywood projects, have partnered with Reel Muzik Werkz, a full-service independent music publisher specialising in music for film and TV and international rights management, to fulfil their global dreams. A tete-tete with the musicians who talk about transcending boundaries with their new music and more.

What does this collaboration with Reel Muzik Werkz mean to team Shor Police?

Clinton: We want our music to be heard by a larger audience and this is the first step in that direction. We met them through a common friend and realised that they liked our music and expressed interest in working with us. Reel Muzik Werkz has done amazing projects like Spiderman Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy, Big Sky, The Conjuring 2 and others. It took almost a year to iron out terms etc.

Your music already had a global flavour. Do you think this collab will just amplify it?

Bianca: That’s nice to hear. We have done a lot of different kinds of music including working with Bollywood. But in the last couple of years, we have started writing our own English music and that’s our way of reaching out to people outside India to let them know who we are and what kind of entity we have as a singing artist. And yes, Reel Muzik Werks will help us in our goal.Clinton: The idea is that once we submit our music to Reel Muzik Werks and get some placement, the next step for us will also be to partner with local artists who make English music and make that music available for sync licensing. So that’s a great way for even Shor Police to be a portal of sorts for the company that we have set up called Shor Police Publishing. I think English music has kind of been neglected for a long time in our country despite English being such a widely spoken language. India has a large urban population who listen to English music and would consume this music, but the industry still hasn’t evolved much.

Any big news coming our way with the collab?

Clinton: We are currently building catalogues and establishing relationships with music supervisors based in LA, etc. Unless something has been finalised on the dotted lines we won’t really be able to speak about it.

You released nine original tracks in three months. Is that part of Reel Muzik Werks collab?

Bianca: All nine songs are part of the Well Hello album. It’s music that we have been writing for over the past couple of years. The songs are all our influences and include pop, rock, R&B, and alternative rock. Reel Muzik Werks helped us fund our first English album. Each song comes with a music video.Clinton: As two individual musicians have come together there are contrasting tastes. However, at the same time, there is a defined sonic pop flavour throughout.

What’s next?

Clinton: We have been really busy with film releases. We did a film I Love You which is on Jio Cinema which released last month. This month we did Blind. We had one song sung by Vishal Dadlani and also had an amazing guest artist, the legendary drummer from the band Porcupine Tree. We also have another song sung by Nikhita Gandhi. We have another film coming up called Dhoom Dhaam starring Yami Gautam and Pratik Gandhi.
