Author Ananya Pal who is known for writing in Bengali and English, exploring themes of historical fiction, thriller and comedy, is back with a new book, A Mysterious Affair in Amboseli. Pal’s ninth book steps into the genre of psychological thriller and is a riveting murder mystery set in the backdrop of Nairobi city and partly the Amboseli National Park of Kenya. Pal, a chartered accountant by profession who runs her own consultancy in Nairobi, writes scripts and directs stage plays, dance dramas, short films and musical shows. In this book, she also explores narcissism and how people with such a disorder manipulate empaths and create endless suffering resulting in a situation for crime. Talking about her book, she said: “A Mysterious Affair in Amboseli is not merely a whodunit kind of murder mystery but has layers in the characters and explores them with a psychological lens. The book particularly deals with narcissistic traits in humans that can damage the confidence and mental equilibrium of empaths around them and it is a very relevant topic in today's stressful world."
