Tata Motors is looking to sell 10,000 units of its Tiago Electric Vehicle (EV) by the year-end. The company launched its compact electric car at an introductory price starting from Rs 8.45 lakh which will go up to Rs 11.79 lakh. The prices are for the first 10,000 customers.
The company will be increasing the price of Tiago EV soon after that. Vivek Srivatsa, head, marketing,sales, and service of Tata Motors Passenger Car Business, said: “We have sold 40,000 Electric Vehicles (EVs) so far since we launched the Nexon EV in January 2020 of which 30,000 units are Nexon EV and 5,000 units are Tigor EV while the rest are our ExpressEVs for the fleet segment.”
“With the Tiago EV that we have launched at such an aggressive price point, we are looking to trigger a faster adoption of EVs.”Srivatsa said: “We will increase prices after the first 10,000 units are sold. The price point is a balanced decision between business needs and promoting EV adoption.”
