Mahindra and Mahindra has announced the prices of the Scorpio Classic, a new version of its iconic Scorpio, which has a strong customer base in the east. The base model will retail at Rs 11.99 lakh and the top variant will retail at Rs 15.49 lakh, both being introductory prices.
Customers in the east prefer the old Scorpio even after the company launched the Scorpio N, which now has a waiting period of two years.
Sales of the old Scorpio stood at 39 per cent of the segment bookings in the east even as the Scorpio N garnered a share of 16 per cent.
In the western parts of the country, Scorpio N bookings stood at 28 per cent, while the old Scorpio had 21 per cent of the market. In the north, the Scorpio N and Scorpio were at 40 and 37 per cent, respectively. In the south, the figures stood at 17 per cent and 3 per cent, respectively.
Veejay Nakra, president, automotive division, said: “The Scorpio is a landmark model which has reinforced Mahindra’s reputation as a manufacturer of SUVs. With over eight lakh customers, the Scorpio is used by the armed forces, para-military and internal security forces.”
R. Velusamy, president, automotive tech and product development, said, “The Scorpio was developed entirely in-house, establishing Mahindra’s engineering credentials.”
