Bosch is developing India-specific products keeping in mind the price sensitive nature of the market. The component giant is supplying original equipment manufacturers (OEM)s with BS VI compliant products.
Welcoming the government regulations on emissions and safety, Markus Heyn — a member of the board of management, Robert Bosch GmbH — said: ”The increased regulations and strict emission norms call for innovation and new technology. As a technology provider, these developments are positive for us.”
“However, we do understand the Indian market is price sensitive and so we are developing products specifically for India. For us, specific markets call for specific solutions,” Heyn told The Telegraph at the auto expo on Thursday.
On the path to electrification, the Bosch board member said “the company can do much to help in the future of electrification, particularly in the two-wheeler and three-wheeler segments.
“A 48 volt battery for example will be a cheaper option than larger batteries and so electrification in India can start with the two-wheelers where there is lesser range anxiety than passenger cars.”
BS-VI plans
Soumitra Bhattacharya, managing director, Bosch Limited and president, Bosch Group in India said the company was “helping OEMs make the transition to BS VI smoothly. We have been operating in India for 98 years and we continue to be a leading provider of mobility services.
“We are involved in more than 70 projects for passenger cars and commercial vehicles,” he said.
