Two Indian nationals were killed in separate accidents in the UAE over the Eid ul-Fitr holidays, a media report said on Monday.
Sharjah-based Abhilash was killed in a boat accident which occurred when he had gone boating with his colleagues in Khor Fakkan city, the Khaleej Times newspaper reported.
According to the report, 16 passengers and two employees were on the boat during the incident.
Sharjah Police confirmed that three others, including a child, were injured in the accident, and at least one of them is in critical condition.
The body of Abhilash, who hailed from Kerala, is being kept at the mortuary in Khor Fakkan Hospital. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
In a separate incident, Subeesh Chozhiyamparambath, a worker at a landscaping company, was killed in a multiple-car crash in the Al Mafraq area of Abu Dhabi on Thursday, the newspaper reported on Saturday.
An Abu Dhabi resident for the past two years, Subeesh, was also from Kerala. He died exactly a month before his 36th birthday, the report said, quoting his family members.
“It was a multiple-car crash in the Al Mafraq area. Subeesh, along with two others, were sitting in the back seat. The car they were travelling in was hit. Subeesh is no more," Subeesh's cousin was quoted as saying in the report.
He added that the two others travelling with Subeesh also sustained injuries, as one was seriously injured and is in ICU, and the other escaped with minor injuries.
“Indian Embassy has helped finish the necessary paperwork," he said.
