Russian President Vladimir Putin survived an assasination attempt, according to a Euro Weekly News report, quoted by ndtv.com.
However, the report did not clarify when the incident took place.
Media reports state, the left front wheel of Putin’s car was hit and as smoke emerged from it, the limousine was quickly driven to safety. Putin was unarmed when the incident took place. Euro Weekly also reported that several arrests have already been made.
The Russian President was reportedly traveling back to his residence amidst tight security in a decoy motorcade.
"On the way to the residence, a few kilometres away, the first escort car was blocked by an ambulance, the second escort car drove around without stopping (due to the) sudden obstacle, and during the detour of the obstacle," added another report.
This incident happened a week after a group of politicians from St Petersburg called for Putin’s resignation over various factors - one of them being Russia’s military losses in Ukraine and western sanctions imposed economic damage to the country.
