Pakistan has successfully carried out a night-training launch of the surface-to-surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi, its army said on Thursday.
The test comes at a time of heightened tension between India and Pakistan over Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan had reacted with fury to the Indian decision of scrapping Jammu and Kashmir's special status by cutting transport and trade links and expelling India’s ambassador.
The Ghaznavi ballistic missile is capable of delivering multiple types of warheads up to 290 km, the military's media spokesperson, Major General Asif Ghafoor wrote on Twitter.
President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan conveyed their appreciation to the team, and congratulated the nation on the feat, he said.
The Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) also shared a video of the launch in his tweet.
