London: Activists vandalise Van Gogh's 'Sunflowers' painting

The protesters demand UK government's halt over all the oil and gas projects

On Friday, environment protestors the Just Stop Oil group vadalised Vincent Van Gogh's famous "Sunfllowers" painting at the National Gallery located in Central London, reports NDTV.

Two protesters have been arrested by London's Metropolitan Police for tresspassing the Gallery and damaging the painting by throwing "a substance" at it.

Videos of the act has been widely circulated on the social media. In the video, the protestors can be seen throwing a soup can at the iconic painting. They were wearing T-shirts with the slogans "Just Stop Oil".

One of the activists can be heard shouting, "What is worth more, art or life?"

"Are you more concerned about the protection of a painting or the protection of our planet and people?" she also asks.

Just Stop Oil's statement said that their protestors threw two cans Heinz Tomato soup over the famous painting as a protest move to demand the UK government's halt over all the oil and gas projects.

Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" painting is said to have an estimated value of $84.2 million.
