The eldest son of US President Donald trump, Donald Trump Jr, has tested positive for Covid-19, making it the latest infection in the outgoing First Family, according to his spokesperson.
Trump Jr tested positive in the beginning of the week, the spokesperson said, and has been "quarantining out at his cabin since the result”.
"He has been completely asymptomatic so far and is following all medically recommended COVID-19 guidelines," he added.
The 42-year-old is the latest in the First family to have been infected with the virus. This follows his extensive campaigning across the country amid the presidential elections in support of his father, a Republican.
The President and his wife, Melania Trump, had tested positive for Covid-19 on October 2, following which the 74-year-old had to be admitted to a military hospital for a few days. Their results came in just a few days after the first presidential debate, and amid the election cycle.
Their 14-year-old son Baron had been infected as well.
Trump Jr’s girlfriend Kimberley had fallen prey to the virus in July.
White House chief of staff Mark Meadows was among Donald Trump’s several aides who had tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this month.
The coronavirus has infected over 11.8 million Americans and killed more than 253,000.
On Friday alone, 192,000 people in the US tested positive for coronavirus, according to the Covid Tracking Project.
