Majhi is suspected to be associated with a drug smuggling racket.
Police officers are trying to gather information from him about other members of the group.
Collision blaze
A truck and a bus of the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) were gutted in a blaze that occurred shortly after the vehicles collided head-on at Mekhliganj of Cooch Behar on Sunday.
Police sources said the accident occurred around 8am at Thelpore More of Jamaldaha of Mekhliganj block.
Because of a suspected electrical short circuit, both the bus and truck caught fire.
However, by then the occupants of the vehicles had stepped down. Firemen doused the flames. The truck driver and cleaner fled.
The accident left 15 persons, including the bus driver and conductor, injured. They were taken to the primary health centre at Changrabandha.
Traffic halted for around 45 minutes in the area.
