On this day, the ship Eliza Ann paid 3,661 pounds 2 shillings and 3 pence for outfitting for its return voyage to Bengal. The amount included tradesmen’s bills and provisions.

Eliza Ann had been launched in Calcutta in 1795. It made five voyages for the British East India Company.

In December 1799, Eliza Ann and the American-armed East Indiamen Atlantic, sailing together in the Arakan area, encountered an unknown vessel that turned out to be the French privateer Confiance. The encounter proved inconclusive but the ship companies were rewarded for their attack on the French vessel.

In August 1804, Eliza Ann and two East Indiamen encountered the French privateer Venus, and took some members of the French crew prisoners.

Eliza Ann itself was lost in 1807.
