The Teen Bigha Corridor, a strip of land belonging to India on the Bengal-Bangladesh border, was leased to Bangladesh on this day to enable the country to access its Dahagram-Angarpota enclave in India.

This was done following an agreement between Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1974. Bangladesh had immediately handed over South Berubari to allow India to access its enclaves in Bangladesh.

Teen Bigha was opened for six hours a day in 1992, 12 hours a day from July 1996 and finally for 24 hours from October 2011.

In 2015, after a Constitution Amendment Bill was passed, the enclaves were exchanged between India and Bangladesh. Dahagram-Angarpota was the only enclave that was not exchanged as Bangladesh would give up its claim on half of Berubari. Teen Bigha remained on lease to Bangladesh.
