The following advertisement appeared in Bengal Hurkaru on this day.

Bengal Hurkaru, one of the oldest Indian newspapers, was published from Calcutta.

ADVERTISEMENT

The advertisement read:

“W. DOUGHTY, CROWN & ANCHOR HOTEL AND TAVERN, BEGS leave to inform his Friends and the Public, that he has purchased and now exposing for Sale, PART OF AN INVESTMENT, OF HODGSON’S PALE BEER, IN HOGSHEADS, IMPORTED, ON THE SHIP ELIZA ANN, Captain PARSONS.

The above is of a very superior Quality, and can warrant its being equal to any ever Imported. W.D. has also for Sale, a variety of WINES and LIQUORS, of good Qualities, and Prices reasonable.”
