On this day, the following advertisement appeared in Amrita Bazar Patrika, published from Calcutta:

“It has been found that several unscrupuIous manufacturers have found fit to sell bottled drinks under the brand-name of VIMTO. While this is yet another proof of the success of VIMTO among the discriminating drinkers all over India, we hereby warn the persons concerned, that VIMTO is owned solely by Messrs JN Nichols & Co Ltd, of Manchester and that the labels illustrated below and the word VIMTO are registered In respect of these products: VIMTO CORDIAL and VIMTO AERATED. Any fraudulent use of this label or the word will be dealt with according to the law.”
