Mithu Ghosh, the wife of slain Trinamul block president of Birbhum’s Khoirasol, Dipak Ghosh, on Tuesday night lodged a complaint against 15 persons, including two brothers of Trinamul working president of Khoirasol block, Abdul Haque Kaderi and two other prominent local Trinamul leaders of the area.

The complaint raises question about the claim of district Trinamul chief Anubrata Mondal that the BJP had a hand in the murder.

Police have arrested four persons, including a local BJP leader of Dubrajpur, Chinmoy Das, whose name did not figure in the complaint lodged by Ghosh’s wife.

However, Ghosh’s wife has named another local BJP leader in her complaint.

In the FIR, there are names of Samar Kaderi and Narer Ali, who are brothers of Abdul Haque Kaderi, Trinamul’s working block president of Khoirasol and known as a party leader belonging to Ghosh’s rival camp ever since Ghosh was made the block president in June.

Apart from them, there are names of Dipak Shil, who is former working president of Khoirasol block and Mrinal Kanti Ghosh, a local Trinamul leader belonging to anti-Dipak Ghosh lobby, in the FIR.

Birbhum District police chief Kunal Aggarwal said: “We received a written complaint last night and arrested four persons. We have started a probe and people who had connection in the murder will be arrested.”

District BJP leadership has criticised the police for arresting their leader and claimed it was done as the district Trinamul chief had blamed the BJP for the murder.

BJP district president Ramkrishna Roy said: “The FIR lodged by the family of Dipak Ghosh shows that all 14 of the 15 names in the FIR are Trinamul worker and leaders of Khoirasol area. Police have arrested Chinmoy Das, whose name is not in the FIR. It has been proved that Anubrata Mondal’s theory of goons being brought in by the BJP from Jharkhand for the murder does not hold water.”

A Trinamul leader said: “A BJP worker has been named also. But almost names in the FIR are those of Trinamul workers and leaders. The BJP does not have any foothold in Khoirasol. It is well known that there is an ongoing turf battle between two Trinamul factions in Khoirasol over control of illegal mining of coal from abandoned mines,”.

After Dipak was shot and hacked on Sunday, Trinamul district chief had said: “There is hand of the BJP in the attack. BJP goons from Jharkhand killed Ghosh because he was a strongman of the party. BJP’s vision is to ruin our organisation.”
