“High-speed and secure Internet access with a single sign-on (SSO) mechanism for authorisation is now accessible for the entire varsity community in all academic and administrative establishments, hostels, auditoriums and areas of significant footfall,” said a source.

Also, for better security of the campus, 177 more CCTV cameras were installed on campus in the last phase of the project since 2022, bringing the total number to 250.

Omprakash Mishra, the vice-chancellor, said that from now on, free Wi-Fi service will be available in each corner of the NBU.

“The increased coverage and improved quality of CCTV footage will ensure a conducive campus life and a healthy academic atmosphere,” he said.

Anirban Biswas, head of the Centre for Information and Resource Management, said: “The present infrastructure provides more than 30 Mbps download speed in case of simultaneous use by 1,000 users.” “Now the university has also implemented VPN so that scholars and teachers can access NBU-subscribed resources from any location across the globe,” he added.

Sudash Lama, the security in charge of NBU, said: “The high-resolution CCTV cameras cover all entry and exit points of the buildings and campus gates.” He added that from now on, they would be able to trace vehicles entering the university and any undesirable activity on campus.
