The first day of the IndianOil Servo presents The Telegraph Auto Weekend Carnival — Motor Insurance Partner New India Assurance kicked off at Kund, City Centre, Salt Lake, on Friday.
Tollywood stars Shaheb Bhattacherjee and Paayel Sarkar inaugurated the show and went around the fair as fans clicked selfies with them and the machines. The fair is on till Sunday.
Saini Hyundai had the 2017 Hyundai Verna at the entrance though customers enquired about the Elantra and the new Santro.
A little further away stood a queue of SUVs. The Rs 37 lakh Skoda Kodiaq led the charge with the Tata Nexon right next to it and the Nissan Kicks at the rear. The Jeep Compass was parked at the extreme right.
Maruti with its two sales channels, the Arena and the Nexa, occupied the centre stage. While Arena got the WagonR, Nexa displayed the Ciaz and the Baleno.

Ford perched its CUV (Compact Utility Vehicle), the Ford Freestyle and the EcoSport, on the Kund stairs as did Toyota with its Yaris and Liva and Volkswagen with its hatch Polo.

BMW Motorrad displayed its 310 twins at the head of the stairs. Renault had its Captur down below the stairs.
Soni Lakra of New Town checked out the Nissan Kicks. Accompanied by husband L. Lakra and 22-year-old daughter, she collected price lists and sales brochures from the carnival. “We drive a Maruti Zen. But we want to buy an SUV,” Soni who has already done her market research online said.

Tuhin De is a bike aficionado who owns a Royal Enfield Thunderbird. The BMW Motorrad’s 310GS is “extremely good”, De said. “It is for off-roading; the riding stance is good and the shockers are just fantastic.”
The emcee exhorted people to drop in and check out the vehicles. A handful of buyers trickled in as the evening progressed.
