The meeting of the undergraduate (UG) council of North Bengal University here was held on Wednesday after a gap of 11 years.
Principals and senior faculty members of colleges affiliated to the varsity as well as senior professors of the varsity are members of the UG council.
Omprakash Mishra, after assuming charge of interim VC at the NBU, formed this committee on an ad hoc basis to regularise the activities of the UG council, said sources.
“The NBU organised a meeting of the UG council after 11 years. We decided to shuffle members among the UG and PG Board of Studies. Many people deserve inclusion.... For years now, there hasn’t been any change in the composition of members,” said Mishra.
He said 49 colleges are affiliated to the NBU.
“We want to improve the bond between colleges and the varsity. There is a plan to introduce professional courses via self-finance in colleges. As a part of it, a decision has been made to start a skincare diploma programme in Siliguri College,” he added.
