Two persons were fatally stabbed in separate incidents in Malda district on Friday night.

According to police sources, Abdul Haque, 45,was stabbed and beaten at Haldibari under Chanchal police station.

Sources said that Haque had been to the house of Chumki Bibi, his married daughter, to mediate a dispute. During the talks, Haque was allegedly attacked by some neighbours of his daughter.

Chumki alleged that her father was stabbed and beaten up with a stick. He was taken to Malda Medical College and Hospital where he died. “We have arrested Md Shahjahan, the main accused,” said SDPO Subhendu Mandal.

E-rickshaw driver Subarna Mandal, 39, of Ramnathpur, was found at Mahadipur of Englishbazar police station, with a dagger in his stomach. He was rushed to MMCH where he was declared dead. Police have started a probe.
