The juvenile justice board in Suri on Monday granted bail to two minors who had been arrested for their alleged involvement in the massacre of nine persons at Bogtui in Birbhum district on March 21 night.
“The two minors were produced before the juvenile justice board today. The board granted bail to the duo. There is a condition for one of the minors that he would not enter Bogtui village for a month from the date he was granted bail,” said Anindya Singha, the assistant public prosecutor of the juvenile justice board.
Sources said this was the first time that anyone arrested in connection with the Bogtui carnage got bail.
The CBI has summoned Mihilal Sheikh, who lost many family members in the carnage, to its camp office in Rampurhat to clear a few doubts.
Mihilal and other family members appealed to the district administration for permission to repair their burnt homes as soon as possible, possibly before Eid.
A senior district official said their plea would be looked after as the government had given financial help to the family to repair the house.
“We need to discuss the appeal with the CBI whether it would allow the renovation of the house. The matter is under consideration and depends on the nod from the CBI,” said a senior Birbhum district official.
