Two Bangladeshi nationals nabbed

Mohammad Malik, a resident of Rajshahi, and Palash Das, who hails from Dhaka, were arrested while they were trying to illegally cross the border

The Border Security Force apprehended two Bangladeshis on charges of infiltration and a suspected Indian smuggler from different locations near the border in South Dinajpur district on Friday.

Mohammad Malik, a resident of Rajshahi district of the neighbouring country, and Palash Das, who hails from Dhaka, were arrested while they were trying to illegally cross the border in the district.

The BSF also seized 2,300 Bangladeshi Taka from Das. In another incident, 6.65 lakh Bangladeshi Taka and some clothes were seized from Motiyar Mondal, a resident of Shrikrishnapur village in Hilli. BSF sources said Mondal had planned to smuggle the cash and clothes to Bangladesh.

All three were handed over to police. The BSF also carried out raids at various locations in north Bengal and seized some contraband items.The cost of the seized items is Rs 8.09 lakh.
