A Trinamul leader was shot dead inside a party office in Murshidababd’s Nowda on Monday night while drawing up plans for the Didi Ke Bolo outreach programme.
Police said four motorcycle-borne attackers entered the office firing, scaring away party activists, and then shot Nimai Mandal dead from close range. The 55-year-old was also the headmaster of a primary school in the area.
“It is very shocking. As far as I know, he (Mandal) had no enmity with anybody. It is not clear to me why he was killed,” said Abu Taher Khan, Trinamul’s district chief and the Murshidabad MP.
In Madhyamgram, a Trinamul worker, Vinod Singh, 38, was shot at in a party office by six attackers. Singh, a trader, is critical in a Barasat hospital.
