Place: Dhanekhali, Hooghly

What happened: Chaos broke out at a booth at Muidipur Primary School when Hooghly BJP candidate Locket Chatterjee arrived after receiving complaints that Trinamul had been casting votes by proxy since morning. She found out that the polling officials and the central force jawans were having lunch in a room adjacent to the booth. Locket wanted to know why the booth was kept unguarded and an altercation took place when the Trinamul polling agent opposed her.

An unidentified youth then broke the EVM and fled. Local Trinamul MLA, Asima Patra, alleged the BJP workers who had entered the booth along with Locket had broken the EVM.

Locket denied the allegations and filed a complaint at Dhanekhali police station.

Place: Hingli, Bongaon

What happened: A Trinamul supporter and a police officer sustained shrapnel injuries when some miscreants hurled crude bombs in front of a booth.

Trinamul alleged that the miscreants belonged to the BJP. The charge was rejected by the BJP. Police said soon after the incident, proper action was taken to ensure that common voters didn’t face any trouble.
