A tribal youth was shot by allegedly masked goons near his home at
Dalkhola in North Dinajpur district on Tuesday night.

Police identified the deceased as Jeda Soren, a 22-year-old resident of Jairampur, located around 45km from Raiganj town.

“The youth was at home when a few goons, with their faces covered with masks, reached the spot yesterday (Tuesday) evening. They called him out from his residence and shot him in the chest and immediately fled from the spot,” a police source said.

Residents rushed Soren to the Raiganj Government Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared dead.

The deceased worked as a labourer. He was not affiliated to any political party, sources said.

The police are trying to identify the goons and find out the motive behind the murder.
